|OBJECTIVES:||1. Collection and analyze data and information, evaluate current architectural situation, identify major issues and existing problems.
2. Understanding the importance of forecasting future architectural and ecological demand and identifying future problems in the application of architecture design.
3. Evaluation and appraisal of identified sites and identify site potentials.
4. Interpretation of social and cultural needs for spaces with the consideration of adaptation of user into the built environment.
5. Integration of requirement in the Bye-Law in planning and design of habitable project.
At all times idea will be stressed as the anchoring mental activity for ambitious participants. Each project shall be considered as the substance and embodiment of the students’ ideas.
Projects should be developed in terms of their relevance to the culture of architecture, the phenomenal context and the value they hold within society.
|LEARNING OUTCOMES:||At the end of the course the student will have the:
1. Ability to collect and analyse data related to architectural design issue (C4).
2. Ability to describe the issue and demand of ecological and identifying future problem in architectural design (A1) .
3. Ability to integrate the UBBL and other rules and regulation in the building design (P4).
|TRANSFERABLE SKILLS:||Will be able to develop systematic approach for presenting ideas in more complex medium of presentation and construction detailing.
Will be able to produce design relating to the ecological, environment, special needs and current issue.
|TEACHING-LEARNING AND ASSESSMENT STRATEGY:||Learning And Teaching
|SYNOPSIS:||This course will expose and prepare the students with skills in designing a building with specific usage that needs to adopt specific identity values i.e. Housing and Locale elements. Emphasis will be given to designs which are friendly and responsive to the end users (habitable buildings) It involves a detail site planning, references to the Uniform Building By-Laws and Acts, adaptability
of technology that suits the ecology and its environment, energy efficiency and consideration of formal and informal public spaces.
At the end of the semester, students will understand the design process and are able to design a specific architectural complex and are able to adapt to the surrounding by taking consideration of the spaces, form, material, structure and the construction technology.
