9. OBJECTIVES 1.     Understanding and describe the organization of the health services system of the Ministry of Health Malaysia and services provided by local authority, private sectors and NGOs including referral system

2.     Understand and describe the public health and preventive  measCures for the communicable and non communicable  diseases in the community.

3.     Identify the main community health and environmental problem of a selected community using systematic planning, data collection and data analysis

4.     Plan and organise health intervention programme and health promotion activities based on the formulated community diagnosis

5.     Propose a wellness plan based on holistic and ethical approaches in patient management with consideration to Islamic values.

13. SYNOPSIS The Community Health Posting is a 9 weeks posting in the fourth year of the Medical curriculum. During this posting, the core knowledge of public health which include basic concept of  public health, epidemiology, medical statistics, demography, family health, environmental and occupational health, health promotion and nutrition will be reinforced through experiential learning. Student will be introduced to the health service organization, health management principles and health services system in Malaysia. Student will have the opportunity to observe public health practice in the community and apply the principles and methods of public health measures. Students will analyze community health problems by conducting a health survey and organize health interventional programme and health promotion activities
