9. OBJECTIVES
  1. Understanding the basic concepts of public health services and practices.
  2. Recognize and understanding the basic tools of public health practices specifically Epidemiology, demography, medical statistics and research methodology.
  3. Understand basic principles of public health programmes and services for the community and specific groups of population such as mothers, children and workers with consideration to Islamic principles and values.

13. SYNOPSIS This course introduces issues and challenges in providing health services for the population or community. It combines various community health principles and methods for disease prevention, and health care provision. The core knowledge which includes basic concepts of general public health, epidemiology, medical statistics, medical sociology, demography, environmental health, nutrition, health promotion, and basic principles of health services for specific groups of population such as mothers, children and workers are taught over. Teaching methodology include lectures, tutorials and practical classes.
